Bio
During my training as a plastic surgeon, I became interested in the psychology and physiology of surgical work, and its impact on performance. Surgical training tends to prioritise developing technical skill and experience, and academic learning, but gives little formal credence to our psychological, emotional and physiological self-awareness and discipline to access and optimise those facts and motor skills.
Our ability to recognise and interact with stress under pressure, to support performance and interaction with others is critical, both in the moment and in the longer term. I trained as a coach to understand how to support surgeons and other high stakes performance professionals in accessing and developing this information, to optimise both their performance and experience in the moment, and their health and wellbeing more broadly.
