Dr Neeti Ghali

Lifestyle Medicine Physician & Clinical Geneticist

London · Online, Face-to-face

Bio

Dr Neeti Ghali graduated from the University of Manchester in 2000 and went on to train in Paediatrics followed by Clinical Genetics at London teaching hospitals (Guy’s & St. Thomas’ and Great Ormond Street Hospital) as well as completing a research degree in genetics at the University of London.

She has over 20 years of experience in Clinical Genetics, with both paediatric and adult patients, seeing individuals and families with heritable disorders or at risk of a heritable disorder. She has always had an interest in research and has published many papers within this field alongside presenting at national and international conferences. She has been involved with many patient engagement activities, such as recording podcasts and speaking and facilitating at charity-organised patient conferences. As a skilled Clinical Geneticist, she has first-hand experience that we are not always able to control our health and wellbeing. However, we are gaining more and more evidence that there are aspects of our health that we can modify by the lifestyle choices that we make and is particularly interested in how these choices impact on the expression of our genes – a phenomenon known as epigenetics or epigenomics.

Dr. Ghali attained her core accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine in 2024 and contributes to undergraduate medical teaching on Lifestyle Medicine and Health Coaching at Imperial College London. She has been able to implement her skills into her NHS work at the National Ehlers Danlos Syndrome service in London and supports patients to prevent or manage certain risks or complications in the context of their underlying genetic condition. She advocates for empowering patients to understand their own health and long-term condition and facilitates the formation of their own management plan linked to their lifestyle. She therefore has the unique opportunity to draw genomics and lifestyle closer to work synergistically to improve the lives of patients. She does this using a holistic person-centred approach and shared decision making.
