Bio
Jo is a certified Transformational Coach, retreat organiser, and Founder and Director of About Wellbeing Ltd. With over 25 years’ experience as a doctor, including ten years as an NHS Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Jo brings a deep understanding of high-pressure, emotionally demanding professional environments.
Today, Jo creates spaces for people to reconnect with their individual “whole person” needs through one-to-one coaching, reflective away-days, workshops, storytelling and nature-connected retreats. Her work creates calm, supportive spaces where people with busy brains can pause, reflect, and explore sustainable ways to care for themselves while continuing to care for others.
Jo’s approach is shaped by her medical background and her own lived experience of burnout, PTSD and recovery. Engaging with psychotherapy and coaching highlighted the importance of honest self-awareness, accepting support, and compassionate self-care – principles that underpin how she now works. Central to her values is a strong belief in the restorative power of nature, of being creative and in the human need to share stories and connect with each other in neutral, safe and, whenever possible, natural environments.
Alongside running About Wellbeing Ltd, Jo works as a Wellbeing Project Officer with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, contributing to projects rooted in nature, community, and recovery. She is an advocate for cultural change around mental health conversations, suicide awareness, sustainable health and workplace wellbeing, particularly within healthcare and caring professions.
Jo lives with her husband and 3 children (and various other animals), and stepped away from clinical medicine in 2023 to focus fully on this work.
